Zinc Communicate and Sustainable Travel International Announce Partnership

Zinc Communicate and Sustainable Travel International announce partnership to produce Sustainable Travel: Where Next? an inspiring documentary series about the people and organisations that are transforming travel.

The documentary series will investigate how the tourism industry is coming together to rebuild a more sustainable future and protect the destinations and communities at the heart of travel.

SEATTLE, WA (January 26th 2022) – Today Zinc Communicate, a Division of Zinc Media Group and, Sustainable Travel International announced ‘Sustainable Travel: Where Next?’ an immersive documentary series that investigates the real impact that tourism has on the destinations and communities we visit, and explores what needs to be done to protect these awe-inspiring places. The series is being produced by Zinc Media Group and will be released in partnership with Sublime Magazine on World Tourism Day in September 2022.

Using high-end cinematography, ‘Sustainable Travel: Where Next?’ will take viewers to some of the world’s most cherished destinations, showcasing stories of conservation, regeneration, and empowerment. The series will illuminate the ways that tourism transforms the places and communities we visit – both for better and for worse – and reveal how our choices as travellers or businesses affect the future of these destinations.

‘Sustainable Travel: Where Next?’ will consist of a series of short-form documentary films, featuring insightful stories from the global travel and tourism sector showing how they are driving sustainable travel and protecting these precious destinations. We’ll hear from leaders and influencers in the travel industry, as well as the local people who are the most affected by tourism and at the front line of this powerful movement.

“We hope this series inspires viewers to shift away from the exploitative type of tourism that takes from destinations without giving in return and leads them to a more sustainable and regenerative model,” said Paloma Zapata, CEO of Sustainable Travel International. “We’re excited to be partnering with Zinc Media to help us share these stories with a global audience and bring the industry’s success stories to life.”

This evocative series comes at an opportune time when travellers and companies are already re-examining the way that tourism has traditionally worked. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, uncontrolled tourism growth was leading to harmful consequences, deteriorating fragile environments, exploiting local communities, and overburdening popular sites. By providing time to step back and reflect, the pandemic opened consumers’ eyes to the impacts of their travels and accelerated the demand for sustainable experiences. According to research conducted by Booking.com, 61% of travellers feel that the pandemic made them want to travel more sustainably.

“We are truly excited about producing this series with Sustainable Travel International, to cast the spotlight on the people and businesses at the centre of this powerful movement,” says Adam Harrod, Director of Business Programming, Zinc Media Group.

The content will be launched on World Tourism Day on September 27, 2022 and will form part of a global marketing campaign aimed at various tourism stakeholders, including travel companies, developers and investors, destination managers, and travellers. The series will help these audiences understand how to travel more sustainably and protect our world for generations to come.

We are currently seeking sponsors with sustainability stories to be featured in the documentary, as well as additional media and distribution partners.
